Centrum Badań Kosmicznych PAN created a map of Poland’s land cover, compiled based on images from the Sentinel-2 satellites.
The map was prepared at the request of the Polish Space Agency based on photos taken in 2020 and using machine learning algorithms. It was created by combining 49 photos by cutting them back along the country’s borders. Each scene was based on at least 10 pictures. The condition for using the photo was the presence of cloudiness less than 20%. The spatial resolution of the entire map is 10 m.
The map is available on the website www.geoportal.gov.pl. It enables to update of existing databases and the observation of changes taking place in the field, including the monitoring of cities, road infrastructure, forest areas, and water reservoirs.
