We are pleased to announce that for the first time in Poland, the three-year ESA Spark Funding program is starting, within which  will be possible to obtain non-refundable funding for the creation and commercialization of products and services using space technologies.

The European Space Agency (ESA) is an international organization that supports the research and development of space technologies that can be used in space and on Earth. Poland has been a member of ESA since 2012.

There is a network of ESA technology brokers in member countries who help national entities create new solutions and obtain grants for the transfer of space technologies.

There are two technology brokers in Poland: Paweł Kwiatkowski and Jarosław Chojnacki.

How does ESA Spark Funding work?

  • The assumption of the ESA Spark Funding Program is to implement space technologies (e.g. sensors, materials or electronics) to industries other than space, e.g. transport, energy or health care.
  • ESA Spark Funding is aimed primarily at SMEs, startups or larger entities that already have product lines.
  • Products or services submitted to the program should be at least on TRL 3 and have at least an MVP version that can be tested and verified.
  • The application should provide a commercial justification and plans for the production and sale of the developed solution.
  • At the end of the ESA Spark Funding programme, the beneficiary should provide a feasibility study report and prepare a prototype / demonstrator version.
  •  The applicant can apply for 75,000 euros of non-refundable support.
  • The project must be completed within a maximum of 12 months.
  • Recruitment is continuous and evaluation deadlines are set on the programme website.
  • Deadline for first call: May 26, 2024.
