This year’s third edition of the Silesian Science Festival will take place on 13-14 January in Katowice. The new part of the festival will be the space zone.
In the schedule of the festival’s main stage is planned a debate on “The future of the space industry in Poland”. The discussion will be attended by the president of the Polish Space Industry Association, Paweł Wojtkiewicz, the President of the Polish Space Agency Ph.D. Grzegorz Brona, representatives of Astronika and Future Processing and the Space Research Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The moderator of the debate will be Łukasz Wilczyński, president of the European Space Foundation and organizer of the European Rover Challenge. From the main stage, the conversation will probably move to the space zone, which will potentially create an opportunity for interested persons to continue their discussion with the speakers.
The space zone will be located in the multifunctional hall of the International Congress Center in Katowice. In the new zone, there will be various attractions related to the cosmos, such as an inflatable mobile planetarium, a raft for Mars rovers where will be presented rovers of four construction teams from Polish polytechnics, space suits and a gyroscope that will simulate the overloads experienced by astronauts. In the space zone you will also be able to meet exceptional guests, such as NASA astronaut Nicole Stott and representatives of the Polish Martian-Moon habitat, a specialized facility designed to simulate human space missions on the Moon and Mars. During the two-day festival in the space zone, there will be several lectures related to this unearthly subject.
We cordially invite you to participate in the Silesian Science Festival, and in particular to hear the debate about the future of the Polish space sector.
